DecksDirect were looking to add fire tables to their product assortment. The one problem was that they didn’t have a brand tied to their new Outdoor Living category, so me and my team were asked to create the second white label brand in the history of the company.

When it came to a name for the new outdoor living brand, there were a lot of utopia-type names thrown around like Oasis and Paradise, but everything had been used before. So we decided on a name that reinforces the idea of bringing the indoor pleasures to the outdoors—basically merging them together and that’s how we found MERGE Outdoors.

What Was Needed

Once we came to MERGE Outdoors, I quickly went to work on a logo. A tagline was also needed for trademark purposes and would also need to be incorporated into the logo. For the tagline, I mocked up the phrase, “Come Together,” before I knew we needed a tagline. The sentiment was there, but the phrasing needed to change for obvious reasons. We landed on “Let’s Meet Outside,” mostly because it was conversational and inviting—very similar to The Beatles song title.

Throwing Shade

MERGE Outdoors added a second product under the brand with the addition of pergolas. Following with the idea of indoor luxuries experienced outdoors, it just made sense for these pergolas to fall under the MERGE Outdoors umbrella.
